The Open University of China (OUC) recently launched the RTVU system for international Chinese teacher training. The aims of the training are threefold: prepare teachers for international Chinese education within the RTVU system, facilitate the overseas expansion of local RTVUs, and accelerate the internationalization of the OUC.
On January 5, 2013, the OUC Continuing Education School and the Yonyou Management Software College came together to hold the first management software application engineer training class at the OUC. 30 trainees from nine provinces and one city in China attended the class.
Shaanxi RTVU’s Xincheng Branch School recently held a traditional Han Chinese clothing and etiquette event with the theme “A Feast for Gentlemen”.
The 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China Central Radio and TV University (CCRTVU, now The Open University of China, OUC) Press was held at the OUC’s Wukesong Distance Education Teaching Building on the morning of December 22, 2012. Over 400 guests, including university leaders, staff from the CCRTVU Press, publishing industry colleagues and other elites in Beijing, attended the celebration.
On December 17, 2012, Mr. Abhimanyu Singh, Director and Representative, UNESCO Beijing was invited to visit the OUC and give two speeches on “Open and Distance Learning: Global Trends and Prospects” and “The History and Development of Open and Distance Learning in India” at the OUC Open Forum.
The incentive-based evaluation mechanism developed by Chongqing RTVU’s Open Education School has become popular among students. Between December 3 and 10, 2012, more than 150 students from the university’s Open Education School exchanged their study credits for gifts.
The 7th Confucius Institute Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing from December 16 to 18, 2012. During the conference, Hao Ping, Vice Minister of Education, visited the MyEChinese distance education Chinese experiential zone held by the OUC’s Chinese Language Center.
On December 1 2012, Hunan RTVU held a competition for students majoring in pharmaceutics. The competition required the contestants to distinguish between different Chinese traditional medicines with their eyes covered. A total of 88 students from 6 branch schools competed in the contest, which was attended by Peng Simao, deputy president of Hunan RTVU.
