Imagine the following: You can learn whatever you want, with no need to carry heavy books, homework and class notes everyday. Online resources make learning possible anywhere, anytime, and you can review new knowledge, submit assignments and take exams even in the case of unexpected power outages. A credit bank helps you manage your credits more efficiently. Thanks to a number of new teaching technologies, this dream can now become a reality. The Open University of China (OUC) successfully arranged its second teaching technology application exhibition on July 3. Visitors were impressed by the rich and varied content of the exhibition, including the “Individual IT Show”, the “Mobile Campus Show” and the “Cloud Learning Experience”. The OUC departments contributed 46 distinctive displays to the exhibition. The departments included the School of Economics and Management, School of Agroforestry and Medicine, School of Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Arts and Law, Assets Management Office, Research Institute of Open and Distance Education, the Chinese Language Center, Community Education Research Center, Academic Affairs Department, Information Technology Department, Library, Learner Support Center, Resources Center, Department of Teaching Resources Management.
A number of distinguished guests visited the exhibition, including Hao Keming, president of the Chinese Society for Educational Development Strategy; Gao Shiqi, former secretary-general of the Central Organization Department; professor Liu Yanshen, deputy director of the National Engineering Research Center for E-learning; professor Yan Jichang, leader of the National Universities Cooperation Group; professor Li Defang, secretary-general of the National Networked Consortium for the Education of Teachers; and Zhang Shuanggu, vice president and secretary-general of the Chinese Society for Educational Development Strategy. In addition, more than 80 teachers from the Tianjin Branch of the OUC attended the exhibition.
