I. Training Objectivesand Standards

Admission requirement: a senior high-school, vocational high-school, technical-school, or secondary technical-school diploma.

The undergraduate programme has a junior-college prerequisite and a minimum length of study of two and a half years, with student status retained for 8 years.

The programme aims to foster all-round ethical, physical and intellectual development, with graduates being advanced engineering professionals with a solid foundation in basic computer operations, computer information management. They are able to conduct collection, management, and analysis of big data,  and work in careers related to internet and software information services, big-data operations and maintenance (O&M), cloud platform O&M, big-data analysis, and other areas.

Knowledge Requirements

Basic general knowledge: ideological and political theory, traditional Chinese culture, computers, English, and applied writing.

Professional knowledge: programming theory, database design, management and data operations, big-data research methodology, principles of computers, database systems and technology, current mainstream big-data technology, methods and technologies of simple big-data applications, and big-data collection, processing and analysis.

Competence Requirements

Students should gain abilities related to research, lifelong learning, and problem analysis and solving;

Language and communications skills;

Teamwork;

Computer-systems maintenance and troubleshooting;

Database design and use;

Basic programming-language design;

Building and use of management-information systems;

Basic IT-system construction for enterprises;

IT management and operations;

Collection, processing and use of data;

Developing simple big-data applications; and

Applying knowledge and technologies to solving practical problems.

Personal-quality Requirements

Being law-abiding, honest, friendly, sociable, and socially responsible.

Having the ability to collect, judge, integrate and apply information, and use information technology to recognize, analyse and solve problems.

Being advanced in terms of awareness of quality, environment and safety, information literacy, craftsmanship, innovation, global vision, and market insights, while possessing self-control and good teamwork and communications skills.

Being healthy in body and mind.

II. Core Courses

Computer Systems and Maintenance, Basics of Network Technology, Management of Information Systems, Uses of MySQL Database, Introduction to Big-data Technology, Principles and Uses of ERP, and IT Management and Operations.

III. Graduation

At least 78 credits are required to graduate, and students who have completed all the required courses and obtained the required number of credits, and met the moral-education requirements, within 8 years of enrollment will be awarded a nationally-recognised junior-college graduation certificate.
